New Law School Development Director Appointed

Dr. Alleen Deutsch has joined the University of Memphis as director of development for the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. Deutsch comes to the U of M from the Georgia State University College of Law, where she served as director of development and alumni relations for more than five years. Prior to her work at Georgia State, Deutsch was a major gifts officer at Florida State University.

Dr. Deutsch has extensive experience in private, independent, and large public universities. Before her work in development, Deutsch served as dean or director of university continuing education outreach programs at Bradley University, Auburn University-Montgomery, and Florida State.

Dean James Smoot comments, "Alleen joins us at an exciting time in the life of the law school as we strive to increase annual giving significantly to enable us to meet growing operational expenses during a time of flat state educational budgets We also will be preparing for a major capital campaign as the law school plans to build a new facility. Alleen was the clear first choice from among a large number of talented applicants."

A graduate of Bowling Green State University, Deutsch earned her master's degree in student personnel services and doctorate in higher education administration from Miami University of Ohio.
