SUBSTANTIVE COVERAGE AND OBJECTIVES OF COURSE:
Coverage includes ethical issues, age discrimination in employment, income maintenance, health care, long-term care, housing, guardianship, health care decision making, elder abuse and neglect, and basic estate planning. The objective is to provide an overview of principal issues facing the practitioner of Elder Law.
RELATION TO OTHER OFFERINGS IN CURRICULUM:
The course builds upon many of the principles learned and skills acquired in required courses and applies them in the context of the elderly client. In addition, the course explores legal problems that are most likely to be encountered only when advising the elderly client.

Elder Law is not a bar exam subject.
RELATION TO CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:
Elder Law is a burgeoning field. Familiarity with legal problems faced by the elderly is important to the practitioner of family law, probate law, and estate planning.
