SUBSTANTIVE COVERAGE AND OBJECTIVES OF COURSE:
An overview of
professional sports; contract issues in professional sports, including,
formation, the standard players contract, specialty clauses, termination, assignment,
remedies for breach, defenses to actions for breach and negotiating the
contract; agent issues in professional sports, including, representation
contracts, duties and responsibilities and regulation; union issues in
professional sports, including labor- management relations, collective
bargaining agreements and arbitration; and torts issues in professional sports,
including, facility liability, products liability, participant and spectator
injuries and defenses.
