SUBSTANTIVE COVERAGE AND OBJECTIVES OF COURSE:

Coverage includes personal property, private interests in land, and the sale of land. Objectives include mastery of principal concepts of acquisition, retention, and transfer of property rights.

 

RELATION TO OTHER OFFERINGS IN CURRICULUM:

The course provides a fundamental underpinning for Decedents' Estates, Future Interests, Environmental Law, Land Use Planning, and Realty Transactions.

 

RELATION TO BAR EXAM SUBJECTS:

Property is a principal testing area on the multistate examination and state bar examinations. Essay questions relating to personal property, landlord/tenant law, and real property are frequently included on the Tennessee Bar Examination.
