APPLICATION  COMPONENTS

Application Fee The application form must be accompanied by an application fee of $25.00 ($40.00 for international students).  Checks and money orders should be made payable to The University of Memphis.  Do not send cash.  Deadline is March 1st.
Personal Statement Each applicant must submit a personal statement as described on the application form.

Non-resident applicants must also submit the non-resident supplemental statement.

Admonitory Action If an applicant has answered yes to any of the six questions in the Admonitory Action section of the application, he or she must provide a full and detailed explanation of the circumstances.
Transcripts Original transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate institutions must be submitted directly to the Law School Admission Council (LSAC).
Optional Supporting Material  Letters of Recommendation. Applicants are encouraged to submit up to three letters of recommendations.  However, a letter of recommendation is not required for a file to be considered complete and files will be evaluated by the Admissions Committee without letters of recommendation. Recommendation letters should be from former professors, instructors, or other professionals who can provide relevant information on the applicant's intellectual ability, academic performance, and potential for success in law school.  Letters from personal or family friends or social acquaintances which provide only minimal information on an applicant's abilities are not considered helpful.

First-Year Scholarships. To be considered for most first-year scholarships, applicants must complete the optional questions on the application for admission and submit the required statement. Available to all applicants.

Memphis Access & Diversity Law Scholarship. To be considered for this scholarship applicants must complete the optional questions on the application for admission and submit the required supplemental statement. Available only to Tennessee residents.

Tennessee Institute for Pre-Law (TIP) Program. Applicants must complete the optional questions on the application for admission and submit the required supplemental statement. Available only to Tennessee residents.
