General Info: The AWA meets once a month to discuss upcoming events and speakers, topics of interest, and general concerns. The AWA student chapter members are invited to the various brown bag lunches and CLE opportunities the the professional chapter co-ordinates. The brown bag lunches are lunch meetings in which a speaker is invited to speak on a legal topic of current interest or to inform members in more depth on a particular legal issue. The AWA professional chapter provides scholarships each year. For further information regarding the professional chapter consult the Memphis Chapter of AWA. The AWA professional and student chapters jointly co-ordinate panel speakers at the law school through out the year. These speeches are open to the public and free of charge. Annual speeches include a resume writing workshop, interview skill workshop, and judicial clerkship workshop. Other past topics have included the pro's and con's of a solo practice, choosing a specialty, and analysis of upcoming area's of practice, including sports law and entertainment law.
